The National Dental Commission (NDC) on July 28, 2026, issued circular on Maintenance of Annual Calendar of Events and Timely Conduct of Final/Supplementary BDS/MDS Examinations.
Concerns have been raised regarding inconsistencies and delays in conducting final and supplementary BDS/MDS examinations across universities, which are adversely affecting students’ academic progression, internships, and postgraduate admissions. Timely examinations are essential to maintain synchronization within the academic and professional pathways of dental education.
To address these issues, universities have been directed to establish and publish a detailed “Calendar of Events” at the start of each academic year. This calendar must clearly outline the schedule for regular and supplementary examinations, ensuring transparency and predictability for students and institutions.
Universities are required to strictly adhere to the announced timelines, avoiding postponements or changes except in unavoidable circumstances. Additionally, they must ensure that examination results are declared within a reasonable timeframe to prevent delays in further academic or career opportunities.
Registrars of universities have been instructed to implement robust administrative mechanisms to ensure compliance with these directives across all affiliated dental colleges and institutions, thereby safeguarding student interests and improving the overall efficiency of the academic system.
